First the facts: Perez recently posted—then removed—a paparazzi photo of Cyrus exiting a car in a too-short white dress. The photo seemed to depict the 17-year-old without underwear, though other photos taken around the same time indicate she did, indeed, have underpants on. Either way, how much jail time is Perez likely to get for this possible child porn? Well …

… likely, none, defense lawyers tell me.

“This one image of a 17-year-old, even if it were technically child porn, is not a very big child porn case,” criminal defense attorney Christopher Leibig tells me. “Usually child pornography cases involve multiple images, including children being photographed—in a private setting and performing sexual acts—by perpetrators for profit.”

The Cyrus photo, while invasive, may simply not meet that standard, especially for a prosecutor, Leibig explains. Yes, if Perez, aka Mario Lavandeira, knowingly posted a photo of Cyrus exposing her nether parts, that could technically qualify as a crime punishable by 10 to 15 years hard time, Leibig says.

“But it just doesn’t reach the same evil that these laws were intended to prohibit,” Liebig adds. In fact, he says, most prosecutors probably wouldn’t be interested in pursuing Perez.

For the record, I haven’t seen the Cyrus photo in question, and to be honest, I’m not all that interested in tracking it down.

The Black Eyed Peas - WorldCup 2010

JOHANNESBURG, March 17 (Reuters) – The Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Alicia Keys will be among scores of music stars performing at a concert on the eve of the soccer World Cup in South Africa, organisers said on Wednesday. The concert in South Africa’s biggest black township Soweto will be on June 10, a day before the start of the month-long World Cup, which is being hosted for the first time in Africa.

The concert in the 30,000-capacity stadium will be broadcast live to millions of people across the world.

“We are thrilled to have a concert of such magnitude and performing talent raise the curtain on the first FIFA World Cup in Africa. It is testament to the universal and unifying power of football and music, and will start the competition off on the right note—of celebration,” FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said in a statement. Among other performers at the concert will be African musicians including Benin-born diva Angelique Kidjo, Amadou and Mariam from Mali, South African group the Parlotones and Tuareg desert blues band Tinariwen.

Shakira Worldcup 2010

Net proceeds from the concert will go to 20 Centres for 2010, FIFA’s official social campaign for the World Cup—aimed at achieving positive change in Africa through football.
